≪Miyanoura≫

Miyanoura is the largest town in Yakushima, home to the Miyanoura Port where the ferries from Kagoshima arrive and depart. Visit the Yakushima Culture & Environment Center to pick up food, supplies, and information about the island. Miyanoura is also your starting point for day trips to attractions like the Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine.

≪Anbo≫

Anbo Port, the second gateway into Yakushima, also has high speed ferry access. There are plenty of restaurants and shops here. Rent kayaks and navigate the Anbo River, or use Anbo as a starting point for trips to the Jomonsugi tree, Yaku-Sugi Land, or Miyanoura Mountain. The gnarled branches of the ancient Jomonsugi cedar make it among Yakushima’s most famous natural attractions.

≪Onoaida≫

Onoaida has some of Yakushima’s best hot springs, bath houses, and hotels. You’ll also find a handful of shops selling handmade crafts and other goods.

≪Nagata≫

Famous for its white sand and blue water, no place on Yakushima says “beach” like Nagata. Restaurants and shops are scare here, so come prepared. Nagata is also known for being Yakushima’s favorite spot for sea turtles to lay their eggs… if you’re lucky you might see one!
